The Town That Makes America Go Camping - Elkhart, Indiana
Come with us to Elkhart Indiana, a town we didn't know we would love until we got there.
We stayed in a campground with 2 Rallys going on, the Renegade RV Rally and the Pre-Rally for Alliance's national rally. Both groups were incredibly kind and we even got an alligator, the Alliance equivalent to being flamingo'd by a fellow Airstreamer.
We visited the Brinkley RV manufacturing facility and took a tour of the travel trailer line. We love the look of the Brinkley and were very impressed with the process. It was cool to compare their process to the airstream basecamp process.
We stopped into the RV Hall of Fame and Museum to see the history of RVs through the years. There we saw the smallest Airstream ever built, some amazing designs that were prototyped or built in very small numbers, and stopped by to visit the Bird (Keep Your Daydreams bus). I imagine KYD made some great smoothies in this rig since it has a built in blender.
On the rainy days, we stayed home and opened packages from Amazon that we had been waiting to order . . . and Emily made homemade lasagna! Nick fixed a propane leak, luckily the leak was coming from the connection hose and it was an easy replacement. Would you visit Elkhart? Do you have a manufacturing tour that you would love to go on?
