Behind the Shiny Shell - Visiting Airstream Mothership in Jackson Center, Ohio

This week we are in Jackson Center, Ohio wasting time while our window is getting replaced. Over the course of a week we went on manufacturing tours for the Airstream Basecamp as well as the Airstream Atlas and Airstream Interstates. We ate pizza, got coffee at an Airstream coffee shop, installed a stainless steel exhaust vent, and generally wasted as much time as possible.

It was a fantastic way to spend some time learning more about Airstream and having a great place to stay in Jackson Center, Ohio. The Airstream Basecamp tour was pretty incredible and it made it even better that our first travel trailer was a 2018 Airstream Basecamp. Emily toured the Airstream Atlas and Interstate plant which was also interesting to hear about how long it takes to build these drivable RVs.

The Heritage Center at Airstream offers a glimpse into the history of the trailers built by the company over the years . . . did you know they had built a funeral coach (hearse)? We also read about the history of Wally Byam and his adventures in the Airstream.

Stay until the end for a funny sticker placement!
